Wednesday morning arrived the next day and I was in the office, focused on work and surrounded by the great company of Jaxson’s agents.

“I say Mexico,” Hudson announced.

“Nah, Mykonos would be better,” Amiri stated.

We were all sitting at our desks in the main area of The Evans Group’s headquarters. Hudson and Amiri’s desks were at the front and they’d turned around to face me, Cree and Stella as our desks were stationed behind them.

“Us sitting on a fourteen-hour flight would not be better, fool,” Hudson disagreed, sternly shaking his head from side to side. “Mexico is basically across the street. Our first group trip needs to be there.”

“A group trip that the boss hasn’t confirmed and doesn’t even know about,” Stella intervened. “Y’all are chasing a pipe dream.”

“But he hasn’t not confirmed it,” Cree added. “So there’s still a very high chance that we’re going on this group vacation.”

“He will confirm it,” Amiri voiced confidently. “Because Newbie over there is going to market the idea so well to him that he’ll have no choice but to say yes to taking us to Mykonos on our first ever group vacation.”

I looked over at Amiri with confusion. “Since when did I have a role in all this?”

“Since you became the company’s newest employee, Newbie.”

I started shaking my head at him but he pouted.

“Ahh, come on, Newbie. You can’t say no,” he told me. “You’re a marketer, which automatically makes you good at advertising things. You can advertise this vacation to boss man the best.”

“I agree,” Cree said with a firm nod.

“Besides, I’m positive he won’t say no. I mean who could say no to a pretty face like yours?” Amiri flashed me a gleaming smile. “Cause I know I won’t ever say no to you.”

My cheeks warmed and I wasn’t able to stop the smile now curling my lips.

Stella wiggled her brows at me before focusing on Amiri. “You’re quite the charmer aren’t you, Amiri? You tryna take Kita out on a date?”

“Wherever she wants to go I’m down,” he replied.

“And you’re paying for everything?” Stella pushed.

“Is that even a real question?” He scoffed. “Of course I’m paying for everything.”

“What do you say, Kita? You interested in giving the charmer a chance?”

I paused and inspected Amiri carefully, reading the genuine look he wore as he observed me.

Amiri was an attractive man. He had sharp mahogany eyes, smooth toffee colored skin, a full beard that coated the lower half of his round face and three sixty waves swirling on top of his head – waves that didn’t ever look unkept. He was also taller than me, had a physique that filled out his suit well and a deep, soothing voice that had the potential to make any woman feel weak in the knees.

You and Jaxson are just fucking. His agreement makes no mention of you going out on dates. I see no harm in you allowing Amiri to take you out for one date.

Though I was positive I wasn’t looking for a relationship, I had no problem being wined and dined.
